The word “home” conjures up feelings of deep emotion. It can be a place you are grateful for a season, for a lifetime, or a place you are ready to expand beyond! My experiences with buying homes and investment properties has led me to many interactions with real estate brokers and I have learned what makes one experience stand out from the rest. When you work with a Realtor, you want an advocate in your corner, fighting for you with encouragement and with fierce negotiation skills as well as a compassionate companion to walk you through every step of the process.

Why Real Estate?

I have called Boulder County home since 1998. My husband and I moved here from Michigan with big dreams! We quickly realized property values were a lot different than in Michigan. When we started to think about buying a home in Boulder, we shifted quickly to Lafayette where our dollar stretched further. My Dad gave me excellent advice at the time… “Buy as much as you can afford!” He realized the excellent investment Real Estate had long before we could wrap our heads around the large monthly payments we would be making as newly marrieds with a baby on the way!

Fast forward… we raised three children in Lafayette. We also started and grew a technology education business which we sold in 2020.  Through the process of building and selling a company, we were involved in various commercial and residential property acquisitions. The first business purchase was a condo in Boulder that we personally renovated. I remember tiling a bathroom and trying to get it all done before the 2:30 p.m. bell rang at the elementary school so I could pick up my kids on time! That might have been the last time I did a DIY project. Tiling a bathroom was not my best work!

The business expanded and grew beyond the space in the condo. We leased that condo and purchased a building in Lafayette. We renovated again, moving walls and renovating a kitchen to create a community work environment. Again, the business continued to grow and the building in Lafayette became too small for the team. We purchased a third building in Louisville which needed a full remodel to convert an old bank to a hip tech office. We completed the office renovation in 2020 when the business sold. It was a bittersweet moment but we learned that Real Estate has always been a very good investment.

Outside of the business and renovations, we also purchased vacation rentals in Summit County. Again, we remodeled and kept the property in updated shape to keep up with the market demands. We enjoyed the process of renovating these properties to increase our rental attraction. The improvements paid off and we recently sold the ski property for a 60% ROI (return on investment).

In the process of renovations, home building and remodeling, I decided to pursue certificates that supported the work I was doing. I have experience in new custom home building and home renovations, with certificates in both professional staging and interior design.

My primary focus is to build relationships where the client needs are met with meticulous service, integrity and care. Prior to becoming a Realtor, I was a teacher for the Boulder County School District for 15 years. My experience allows me to transfer the detail oriented planning and instruction of my education career to all of my real estate transactions, teaching and guiding you as you navigate through the home sale or purchase process. When we are not working on our business or renovating – our home or our properties- we enjoy skiing, walking our dog, biking and the outdoor adventure lifestyle!
